Exotic Hunting in North Texas

exotic hunting in north texas

It’s likely that all of this quarantine business is making you itch even more to “get your hunt on.” At Nine Bar Ranch, we are completely in tune with how you’re feeling, and before too long, we will have you back on your game. One of our favorite parts about Nine Bar Ranch is the opportunity to go on exotic hunts without traveling to another country. You don’t even have to leave the state! The best exotic hunting in North Texas is in your backyard, at Nine Bar of course. It’s possible that you’re wondering what the difference is between a typical whitetail deer hunt and more “exotic” hunts.

As the crow flies northwest of Decatur, Texas, to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, a diamond in the rough will appear from the dusty plains of Texas. Since the ranch has been a part of the Waggoner-Sauder family for over a century, it has also become a staple in the DFW community as well. Even more remarkable is the 12,000 acres of breathtaking landscape that spans our property, on which all of the opportunities for exotic hunts take place. Whether your trek to the ranch is long or short, it’s crucial that you have at least a small amount of background information on the varieties of species that you’ll find here.

If you’re seeking out a challenging adventure, check out the Aoudad, a type of sheep native to the Ivory coast of Africa, with a fierce sense of smell, an excellent hearing ability, and a tawny coat that doubles as camouflage. We recommend hunting these unique animals anytime between October and February as they are more easily tracked when they’re socializing with ewes.

Next up is the fourth-largest deer species – dubbed the Red Stag. The beauty of a stag hunting experience is that you can use any method you prefer, from spot and stalk to safari-style. We offer hunting opportunities for these big boys year round, but their antlers are hardest between September and February.

The Fallow deer, an elusive species that comes in three varieties, provides another variety of exotic hunt. Here at Nine Bar, we have chocolate, spotted, and white Fallow deer that meander the acreage. Similar to the Red Stag, we recommend hunting this deer species between September and February to ensure that you grab an antlered trophy.

One final species at the top of our exotic list is the Sika Deer, a unique species that offers a thrilling hunt. It’s not uncommon for this species to crossbreed, but at Nine Bar, we work to ensure the purest deer possible. Like other species, we encourage hunting from September to February.

As you’ve read, these four species are quite distinctive in the Texan terrain. Here at Nine Bar, our ultimate goal is to offer an excellent hunting experience that provides the highest quality trophies. Each day, we strive to put our customers first in all aspects of our service. We can’t wait to meet you and take you on your next adventure!

Hog Hunting: Why it’s Crucial in Texas

hog hunting

Hog hunting has become so much more than just a sport in the state where everything’s bigger. The wild hog population is bigger than anyone could have ever imagined, that’s for sure.

If you don’t live in Texas, you may not be fully aware of the feral hog quandary that has been slowly brewing for decades and has now fully manifested in the Lone Star state. It’s true: many outsiders simply don’t know that Texas is currently being quite literally overrun by an increasing number of wild hogs. It has been said that this breed of animal is simultaneously a blessing and a curse, but the curse is due to the fact that the wild boar population is growing, and doesn’t show any signs of stopping anytime soon. As they say, everything is bigger in Texas. There is just no simple answer to the predicament. While all of us at Nine Bar Ranch more than happy to help with necessary population control, stronger efforts will have to be put forth by more Texans interested in hog hunting if we are to see a substantial decrease in the overall population of wild hogs in TX.

About eighty percent of the Texan landscape is picture perfect for the thriving survival of wild hogs, and for that reason, their population has now skyrocketed to somewhere between 1 and 4 million in Texas alone. It’s challenging to determine a more accurate range due to the fact that the region is simply so saturated with these beasts that they can be hard to count. Approximately fifty percent of the entire United States’ wild hog population calls Texas home, mostly because the Texas landscape is so conducive to their existence.

Wild hogs have the highest reproductive rate of any hoofed animal, which is a leading reason why a reduction in their numbers is so critical. At a mere six months of the age, a hog is able to and ready for breeding. Typically, they carry four to six young per litter, but can have up to twelve, and most healthy females will produce two litters each year. Research has shown that if we do nothing to reduce their population, the Texas hog population will be able to triple in five years!

Wild hogs can practically live just about anywhere in Texas, from the vast, pine forests of eastern Texas to the rough brush of southern Texas. Generally they prefer habitats that provide them with a solid water source such as a creek, river, or drainage area, but they’ve also been found to thrive fairly well in dry climates. Their adaptability to different living conditions adds to the challenge of reducing their numbers.

If a scorching heat wave rolls through Texas (and if you’re from around these parts you know that happens on the regular), the hogs will retreat to a wet, muddy bungalow, usually one with dense shelter that will protect them from the direct sun. Synonymous to most living organisms, they are smart enough to congregate in areas with food availability with a variety of farm crops.

Not only do the beasts have the ability to live in any number of weather conditions and landforms, but they can (and do) consume just about any food. By nature, they are omnivorous, but their diet is primarily based on what foods are available to them. Some examples of the wide variety of their meals include: grasses, roots and tubers, acorns, bulbs, mushrooms, fruits, insects, snails, reptiles, amphibians, animal carcasses, and other birds and mammals if the opportunity presents itself.

Unfortunately, they also really seem to enjoy digging into local agricultural crops like watermelon, cantaloupes, peanuts, soybeans, wheat, rice, and corn, and they’ll eat to their satisfaction. This means they eat until they are stuffed! They will partake in nighttime or daytime feeding (whatever is most convenient for them at the time), and they’re willing to eat in any type of weather, whether it’s scorching hot, cold, or wet. By now, you have probably started to see a trend; they are basically unstoppable, which brings us full circle: hog hunting is absolutely, 100% necessary.

Because feral hogs will eat almost anything, their ecological and economical damage is outrageous. It is estimated that it costs approximately $1.5 million dollars each year to replace damaged crops and install control measures. In addition to eating many farmers’ livelihoods, they damage an exorbitant amount of crops while eating, simply because they are so gigantic and aggressive that they physically trample everything in their path. They also destroy the habitats of many other species as well as the eggs of turkey and quail. Though they are not normally predators, they will feed on fawns and other smaller animals if the right opportunity presents itself.

As a result of the uncontrollable population of feral boars in Texas, there is currently no legal limit set on how many of these wild beasts one individual is permitted to kill. In addition, any method of killing is allowed, except poison. Feral hogs can be hunted just about anywhere and it’s not uncommon for a hunter to ask for hunting privileges on private property, especially because most landowners recognize the overpopulation and are happy to see someone taking action. Want to join in the fight against the Texas takeover? Take a quick trip down to Nine Bar Ranch and test out your skills. Come join us in the fight against the omnipresent wild boars. We need your help!

The Final Steps for Your North Texas Hunting Trophy

north texas hunting

Nothing exists in the sphere of North Texas hunting that incites heart palpitations like the sight of a deer that quickly scampers into the brush to conceal itself. Suddenly, a tiny shadow that enters your peripheral vision causes a rapid turn of the head, turning that translucent speck into a well-defined image. Before you know it, the stealthy animal becomes a shadow once more. Just the prospect of going home with one of these trophies makes you itch even more to get out in the woods. Your tree beckons you like a lighthouse summons a ship. Sure, it’s possible to head out to the woods via your well-trekked path, but the idea of having a unique hunting experience at one of the best ranches in Texas should be even more enticing. At Nine Bar Ranch, providing a superior hunting experience is our passion and priority. We also give our customers tips and tricks on the final steps in taking care of their new trophy, a beautiful white tail deer.

Situated in Decatur, Texas, about 45 miles northwest of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Nine Bar Ranch boasts a 12,000 acre plot of land on which our hunters attest to an excellent crop. Lodged in a long history of Texas tradition, Nine Bar continues to thrive in the Texas hunting industry. Our traditions are rooted in creating a positive and successful environment for each of our customers. Primarily, we ensure that our grounds are well-kept and that customers are able to obtain the intended trophy when they come to hunt. We place an emphasis on assisting with each step of the process, from guiding hunters to their desired target to providing scrumptious meals. One of the salient steps in taking care of the trophy is ensuring proper processing. Don’t worry, we’ve got that covered too.

Once your target has been taken down, it’s crucial that the proceeding steps are completed in the appropriate amount of time and in a proper manner. Before you do anything else, roll up those sleeves; it’s about to get messy. After the kill, you’ll want to open the chest of the deer and extrapolate the internal organs as quickly as possible. This step will inhibit the growth and spread of bacteria by accelerating the cooling process. We suggest using a knife specifically made for this task.

Next, you’ll hang the deer up in the appropriate manner and begin the skinning process, using a skinning knife for this. Your next step in processing is quartering the deer. Once the quarters are free, it’s crucial to place them in a cool container for preservation. Here is our tip: find a cooler that has a drain plug. Place the quarters on ice and allow the blood to drain off. According to regulations, if you are at camp, you are permitted to remove and prepare a portion of the animal as long as all tagging and proof of sex remain intact until the deer has reached its final destination.

As long as the various parts of the deer are kept in cool conditions for preservation, they will make an excellent source of meat. On the other hand, if you’re choosing the taxidermy route for your deer, you’ll obviously need to take alternate steps. You’ll want to freeze the deer or other animal until you begin the taxidermy process in order to preserve it as well as possible. It is possible to complete the taxidermy process on your own, if you have the proper tools. If you prefer to take it to a professional taxidermist, just be sure to freeze it during the time in between.

At Nine Bar Ranch, we will assist you and provide advice for each of these steps whether that be killing your target or knowing how to properly preserve it. We want your experience with us to be outstanding. Our customers have sustained our long-standing business and we strive to show our appreciation for that with each and every new or returning individual. Don’t hesitate to contact us by phone or email; we can’t wait to meet you!

Exotic Texas Hunts

exotic Texas hunts

If you asked around your local community, it’s likely that there would be an abundance of people that would enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime, adventurous safari. Fortunately, you don’t actually need to travel outside of the United States in order to make this happen. For a hunter in the southern United States, a thrilling experience may present as one of the most exotic Texas hunts, giving participants an exceptional opportunity to strike down unique prey. Even better, all of the excitement occurs on home turf with no need for a passport.

Here at Nine Bar Ranch, we go above and beyond the minimal expectations. The adrenaline rush of killing a typical, white-tailed deer in close proximity to your own humble abode cannot compare to the exhilaration of an exotic game hunt. An obscure valley or the need for a distinct weapon adds a bit of spice to the normalcy that the sport usually brings. Each morning at the ranch, we wake up with this task at hand: to foster the unique opportunity for every hunter that visits our property to take home a unique trophy.

The flat, but reliable Texas landscape does not disappoint, but rather, it exceeds the expectation of the average hunter. At Nine Bar Ranch, located about 45 miles northwest of Dallas, TX, we aim to provide the optimal landscape, weapons, and overall expertise for our customers. We maintain a sense of tradition in multiple ways. Of utmost importance, Nine Bar Ranch has been a staple in the community since the early 1900’s. We take immense pride in our 12,000 expansive acres on which our hunters can find a multitude of species.

Many hunters would expect to be able to take home a deer, fox, turkey, or wild boar, but what they may not foresee is the special chance to trounce a red stag. Don’t worry, we do offer hunting packages for the more “common” animals, but we are jumping out of our seats to tell you about the chance to capture an aoudad, red stag, sika deer, blackbuck antelope, or scimitar horned oryx.

The reason the exotic hunts are especially unique is because they aren’t typical. Believe it or not, there are quite an abundance of exotic species here at Nine Bar Ranch. We offer a variety of packages, but there is one thing in common between all of them. There is no doubt that you’ll go home with a trophy.

The specific details of each package may differ depending on the animal that you’re hunting down. For example, the pricing will vary between packages as well as the instructions we will give during your stay with us. All hunts last for 2 days. Included in the package are delicious, home-cooked meals, well-kept, comfortable, ranch-style lodging, and most importantly, guidance and instruction during the hunt as well as after care for the prey following the hunt.

We are more than ecstatic to go beyond simply meeting the needs of our customers. Each day grants the staff at Nine Bar Ranch a special chance to provide the best education, guidance, and service for each individual who visits us here in Decatur, Texas. Wildlife Management in TX

wildlife management in TX

All around us, you find people who land on every point of the spectrum. We see those who venerate the environment, those who put an appreciable amount of effort into caring for it, those who put in minor effort, and those who have no regard for the surrounding land. Nature is clamoring for more people who are passionate about serving the environment, including conservation efforts, property rights, wildlife population management, and stewarding resources. As humans commercialize the planet, tension between people and wildlife is ameliorated. The goal of wildlife management is to ensure that wildlife populations are stable or increasing, maintaining consistent hunting and fishing availability, and protecting the rights of animals.

Wildlife management encompasses several principles from economic development and costs to keeping wildlife populations at bay. It’s necessary that organizations find a utilitarian balance between economic development decisions and free consumption of natural resources so that both humans and wildlife are considered. In working towards economic development, the cost of commercialization plus safety risk to nearby families are a part of the equation. In regards to fishing, local communities need to partner with a variety of agencies to curb illegal fishing and poaching. This allows individuals with the appropriate rights to reap the benefit.. Finally, it’s crucial that population management takes into account the geographical area involved, such as north Texas deer hunting, so that a species does not decrease to an unhealthy level.

In regards to population management, humans have been hunting and trapping for an extensive amount of time. This was the way in which people provided the necessities for their communities. In today’s world, the heritage continues where we see a generation of both men and women who enjoy numerous hunting seasons.

Changes in wildlife populations are not only observed by hunters and gatherers, but also by organizations and agencies whose purpose is to pay close attention to subtle alterations in the environment. Synonymous to humans, wildlife are sensitive to changes in the environment, therefore we can appreciate a significant amount of information by taking notice. This information clues us in to how we are affecting animals, and potentially, how we may be affected by the changes as well.

Now that you understand basic principles and the “why” of wildlife management, it’s time to move on to the necessary ingredients or the “how to” of environmental care. What are the necessary components of a competent wildlife manager? First and foremost, they need to understand the elements that precipitate healthy wildlife populations.

Similar to the way in which a human’s environment can influence their ability to maintain homeostasis, or a state of internal equilibrium, an animal’s habitat plays a large role in its well-being. Food, water, air, shelter, and an open space to live are five key ingredients in the life of both humans and wildlife. Not only is the presence of these five ingredients important, but it’s crucial that they exist in appropriate ratios. If any of these components are lacking, it may inhibit the flourishing of an animal species, therefore it becomes the limiting factor.

Another term relating to wildlife management is carrying capacity. Defined as the number of animals that can live in a specific region within a one year time span without damaging the environment or causing starvation, carrying capacity demands the attention of the wildlife manager. If there are too many animals in a geographical area, they will deplete the available resources, leaving the environment in a depleted state. On the other hand, if resources are lacking in an area, weaker animals will face opponents such as starvation and disease as well as an inability to ward off predators. In other situations, natural disasters may ruin habitat, ruining food and shelter.

A wildlife manager needs to have a developed understanding of factors that lead to the oscillation of birth and death rates. Factors that affect death rate include climate extremes, development of land, diseases, parasites, etc. Each year, the factors that influence death rates play a role in creating a cyclical rhythm of nature. Many variables play into this cycle, especially the occurrence of different seasons, gestation periods, resource availability, etc. The wildlife manager works to create an environment in which the animal population is somewhat controlled. This allows for the carrying capacity to find a happy medium.  At the same time, they also need to have a general understanding of the health of the ecosystem..

Hunting and trapping still remains one of the most successful ways to control wildlife populations, especially because of the boundaries put in place. These regulations maintain the well-being of wildlife populations, protect the habitat, and keep populations within carrying capacity. Other common methods used to gain knowledge on the fluctuance of wildlife populations are research and harvest surveys.

The health of a human being is dependent upon how well it is managed. Similarly, the future and prosperity of wildlife relies upon how well it is controlled. Not only are management programs responsible for wildlife health, but other people are as well. It requires effort from the entire community. Support local wildlife and conservation agencies and don’t be afraid to educate yourself and others about the surrounding world.

Hunting Requirements in Texas

hunting requirements in texas

For the average person, specific hunting requirements in Texas aren’t the first thing to cross the mind when pondering wildlife. On the other hand, for an ardent hunter, these requirements can potentially determine whether or not you score a trophy. Just as an individual cannot disregard the rules and regulations set in place by their employer, hunters cannot dismiss the laws and regulations implemented by various wildlife departments.

Not only is it preeminent to be aware of the designated hunting seasons for all animals, it’s also crucial that you understand all of the local rules before you step foot in the woods. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is responsible for these regulations in our area, and they also issue hunting licenses and oversee wildlife harvesting.

Often, regulations are consistent from year to year, but there is always a possibility that a law will be added or rescinded from one year to the next. One highly variant law delineates the areas in which hunting is permitted. Because this is determined by the current populations of wildlife, each year, the regulations can differ.

A young child agog at the prospect of journeying out on their first hunting adventure is a thrilling sight to see. Before they begin, it’s crucial to know that any child under the age of nine needs to be accompanied by someone that is 17 or older with a hunting license who has successfully passed a hunter’s education class. When someone is between the ages of nine and 16, they are able to take a hunter’s education class, but they still need to be accompanied by someone over the age of 17 in order to hunt. In addition, there are special youth hunting seasons for white-tailed deer, waterfowl, turkeys, and squirrels.

With regards to hunters of all ages, this article will dive deeper into the methods by which a trophy can be obtained. Six general guidelines provide an outline for legal methods of obtaining your next wildlife trophy in Texas. It is legal to hunt non-migratory game birds and animals specifically from motor vehicles, sailboat, power boats, or other floating devices that are operating within private property. You are permitted to use decoys when hunting game animals and non-migratory game birds, but not when hunting migratory game birds.

It is lawful for an individual to use calling devices, recordings, or other electronic calls when tracking down migratory game birds. Except during Light Goose Conservation Order season, electronic calls are not allowed when hunting non-migratory game birds. It is legal to trap exotic/nongame animals such as feral hogs or rabbits on private property. Any person is permitted to use a dog as an aid when hunting any game bird. Finally, you are allowed to utilize bait for game and nongame animals as well as upland game birds (except Eastern turkey and migratory game birds).

You may think that the type of firearm or weapon can be written off, but it turns out, the way that you go about taking down your trophy is significant. In Texas, any legal firearms are authorized for animals and non-migratory birds except for some specific weapons in relation to certain species of animals. Rimfire ammunition is not permitted when hunting white-tailed deer, mule deer, desert bighorn sheep, or pronghorn. During the spring Eastern turkey season, shotguns are the only authorized weapons. Muzzleloaders, which includes any firearm that is loaded through the muzzle, are not permitted. During muzzleloader deer seasons, only muzzleloader firearms are allowed. Lastly, there are only restrictions on magazine capacity when tracking migratory game birds.

Regarding arrow guns, air guns, and pre-charged pneumatics, TPWD’s website has more in-depth regulations for these weapons. There are also more detailed specifics on archery and crossbows.

Wounding loss is a necessary aspect when considering the variety of weapons that a hunter can use. Most importantly, know and understand the limitations of whatever weapon you decide to utilize. Also, a difference in brand or model will affect ballistic performances and effectiveness. The distance within which the animal is shot influences the wounding loss. Though large animals have been harvested at ranges of 150 yards or greater, the suggested range is less than 75 yards. In minimizing suffering and inhibiting wounding loss, the accuracy of the hunter is key. When a shot can pierce through a major organ (i.e. heart or kidney), wounding loss is decreased. Most importantly, hunters should attempt to take ethical shots that will limit wounding loss as much as possible.

Before you enter the woods, be sure that you are aware of all local regulations. A lack of understanding or knowledge could endanger not only yourself, but other hunters and wildlife. Taking an initiative on the need-to-knows will ensure that each hunting experience is one to remember.

How to Prepare for Your First North Texas Deer Hunt

north texas deer hunt

Your first deer hunt is a life-forming experience. You’ll remember every moment and every subsequent hunt will recall how you felt the first time. You don’t have to be raised on hunting to become a deer hunter. Even novices can become experts with training and discipline. Before you can get out there to hunt though, you’ll need to do the prep work. Here’s some of what you’ll need to do to prepare for your first North Texas deer hunt.

Start by finding a hunting partner or mentor. Ideally this would be a friend or family member. You can’t put a price on the knowledge of an experienced hunter. If you don’t know someone who fits this description, you can seek someone out in other ways. Talk to neighbors and coworkers, try to source those you know. You can meet people at local gun training centers and in online hunting groups.

Your partner can help answer many of your questions, but some things you will need to find out for yourself. Choosing your weapon is an individual preference. You’ll need to try before you buy and that takes time. Different caliber guns have different recoil strengths and you’ll need to make sure you can handle it. Make sure you’re comfortable with the size of the weapon. Of course cost is a huge factor. As a first-time hunter you don’t want to make a huge investment in a rifle if it’s not going to be the right fit.

Research the laws of your state if you’re not a Texas local. Each state differs on the timing of hunting seasons, limits of the number of animals you can take, and permits required. The laws can also change each year so make sure your information is up to date.

Choose your location and know the surrounding areas well. If you’re on public land and you shoot an animal that wanders onto private land you will be unable to retrieve it. Know where the borders are and stay well within them. Familiarize yourself with the terrain and scout the location well ahead of the hunt.

Prepare yourself for the hunt. Your first and foremost task is to get blaze orange clothing and the amount of orange you wear will depend on your state’s laws. Your orange can save your life. When choosing camouflage clothing, keep in mind your desired hunting location. Choose camo that matches the surroundings. Invest in good quality waterproof boots because your hunt will only last as long as your feet last.  Dress in layers appropriately for the season.

Choosing what to bring with you is crucial to a successful hunt. You don’t want to overpack, but you want to be prepared for emergencies should they arise. Water is your most important item, followed by food. Protein bars are excellent for portability and energy. A sharp hunting knife is a necessity. Other important gear you’ll need is a compass, flashlight and/or headlamp, batteries, and a first aid kit.

Get to know your animal. Different species of deer will exhibit different behaviors. Observe them as much as you can and study them. Their body language will tell you more than words ever could. Watch the positioning of their ears, tail, and head.

Once you’ve done all the groundwork to prepare your hunt, take some time to prepare your mind. Enjoy the time spent in nature away from technology, stress, and the demanding pace of modern living. Part of the joy of hunting comes from centering yourself, quieting the noise around you, and listening to nature. Most of all enjoy your first hunt and truly absorb every bit of the experience because that memory will stay with you forever.

All About the Aoudad

all about the aoudad

Surprisingly, the Aoudad, or the Barbary sheep, is the only native sheep in Africa. This is a very interesting species, and today’s blog post will discuss all about the Aoudad.

In the early 1900s, these one-of-a-kind mammals were transported to the United States for exhibitionary purposes in zoos and parks. Due to their apparent success at creating little aoudads, there was quite a surplus in the population. This new abundance was used to establish populations on a variety of appropriate lands. In the current day, there are free-ranging populations in California, Texas, and New Mexico. Juxtaposing the growing U.S. population, in Africa, the number of Aoudads are abating due to a loss of ideal habitat. Not only are the hide, hair, and sinews a staple in the economy, but the Saharan people rely on the Aoudad as a source of food.

Standing approximately 40 inches tall and weighing anywhere between 100 and 300 pounds, the Aoudad is characterized by a light, reddish-brown, bristly outer coat that provides camouflage to their dusty desert surroundings. Typically, the underbelly is lighter in color while the back tends to be slightly darker. One of the keynote features of the Aoudad is the long, soft fringe of hair that treads from the throat to the forequarters. Another distinguishable feature are the horns that curve outward, back and then inward toward the neck. Just like human fingernails, their horns are made of keratin. Not surprisingly, both the fringe and horns are more conspicuous in the male. Also considered remarkable and quite interesting are their horizontal pupils surrounded by yellow irises.

Generally, Aoudads reside in dry, rocky, or mountainous terrain where they can dwell in small, familial groups. They are native to northern Africa, but populations have been introduced to Spain, the United States, and other parts of Africa. Naturally, these beasts are adroit climbers and jumpers that follow a diurnal pattern of life, but will often seek a spot of shade during the blazing heat of the day. Due to their environment, they tend to be grazers that will feast on multifarious sources of grasses, shrubs, and other flora. Fortunately for them, they are able to survive several days without water, as they obtain the majority of it from their diet as well as dew. Longevity for Aoudads tends to be about 15 years, but can extend up to 20 years.

From September to November, you’ll find Aoudads to be in their peak breeding season. Following a gestation period of about 160 days, one to three kids are born. Twins are not uncommon in Aoudads, and if food sources are plentiful, the mother may have three. It’s possible for a female Aoudad to have two pregnancies in one year. At about three to four months old, the kids are weaned and around 18 months, they achieve sexual maturity. Almost immediately after being born, little Aoudads are adept at handling mountainous, rocky terrain.

Socially, there is normally one male for several females. Though the males will compete for dominance in breeding, multiple males in one group can get along well.
